Potcast 144: The Big Pivot

Bruce Perlowin was once a famous marijuana smuggler but became an entrepreneur as he shifted his focus towards hemp over a decade ago. He saw the many biodiverse uses of hemp, the potential that it had, and recognized that hemp would become the future of the cannabis industry. Bruce and I discuss hemp farming, a desert hempathon, the rise of the cannabinoid known as Cannabigerol (CBG), and the importance of getting non-violent cannabis prisoners out of jail and back on their feet.

Bruce Perlowin started Hemp Inc, in 2008. The company focuses on meeting the demand for sustainable, green solutions that hemp products can fulfill. Bruce is dedicated to making Hemp, Inc. one of the leaders in the U.S. hemp industry which is now projected to grow to 2.6 billion dollars in sales by 2022 according to New Frontier Data.

HEMP INC.

Hemp Inc.'s three business pillars - Infrastructure, Education and Community, all intertwine in the activities of the company, which are guided by the belief that the hemp revolution is a powerful engine for social change and economic revival.

By empowering Hemp farmers and entrepreneurs with knowledge, processing infrastructure, and support, we can help create thriving local communities in which the American small family farm is once again a vital economic entity.

Kins Community

A Kins Community is a “back to the land” movement similar to the sixties… but with a template. It is a “settlement,” owned and developed by people who prefer living with nature rather than in cities. Bruce Perlowin’s model for the Veterans Village Kins Community is designed to grow hemp for CBD products that benefit veterans, generate revenues for the residents, and to support the holistic healing and learning center at the heart of the community.

Hemp University

Hemp University is key to the hemp revolution by focusing the efforts of its teachers and content on Family Farms and Small Businesses. Knowledge is Power, and by sharing knowledge, we grow together.

FUND SOCIAL CHANGE

Here are a few organizations funding social change and financial aid for those who are still serving prison time for non-violent cannabis-related offenses. If you enjoy financial gain or the benefits of the legal cannabis industry, consider supporting one of these programs or find something similar in your community.
