This potcast is dedicated to our favorite four-legged companions. We’re exploring the relationship between vets, pets, and cannabinoid products with Dr. Terry Fossum, a world-renowned board-certified veterinary surgeon, author of the best-selling textbook Small Animal Surgery, and a serial entrepreneur.

Her textbook is in its 5th edition and has been translated into over a dozen languages. Dr. Fossum’s background includes over 30 years of educating veterinarians and pet owners regarding diseases of companion animals. She has given over 1,000 invited lectures and keynotes to veterinarians throughout the world. She has been honored with numerous awards, including Distinguished Alumni and Continuing Educator of the Year.

Among the many other hats she wears, Dr. Fossum is the CEO and co-founder of Dr. Fossum’s Pet Care, which is developing safe, efficacious, and reliable wellness products for companion animals. In this discussion, she shares insights as a vet, educator, pet owner, and business owner experiencing the challenges of CBD regulations and compliance.

And if you’re picking up what I’m putting down, please rate and review the potcast wherever you listen. That one small action helps other canna-curious folks find this highly responsible cannabis content which also helps me. So thanks for doing your part to puff puff pass it on.

The Sustainability Roll-up is presented by OCB Rolling Papers. In perfect harmony with natural, sustainable practices, it’s always been the OCB signature to provide the highest quality, responsibly-sourced, and sustainably crafted rolling papers.

And this week, I’m ringing the bell of diversity.

It doesn’t matter if we’re talking about our diets, our gut, our friends or our farms and the communities we live in. Variety is where it’s at! :)

We talk about the entourage effect in cannabis but the more I live and learn, the entourage effect exists everywhere.

The differences provide the layers and nuance that create a strong and healthy bond. Outside of synchronized diving or swimming - when is it better to always have everything the same? (I recognize there are others but the majority of the time that’s not the case.)

In our cannabis diet - THC is good. THC + CBD + CBG is more effective for wellness.

In our cannabis industry - Do you think it’s better to have a few big multi-state or multi-national money brands vs a lot of smaller regional brands started by local business owners many of whom were criminalized by the war on drugs?

When it comes to snacking, sure Protein is good. But a Protein + Carb + Fat combo - that’s optimum.

As for friends - If you mostly hang out with your same high school crew 30 years later…. I think you’re leaving some growth opportunities on the table. ;)

As for a wellness lifestyle - You can’t just move your body or only engage in meditation and mindfulness; you’ve got to pair those puppies for best results!

In America’s farmland - if you’re paying any attention then you know that thousands of mono cropped acres of soy or corn vs a series of 50-acre poly-culture regenerative family farms can’t be compared. That mono-cropped farm creates more problems than solutions while the diversity of the small farm creates the ultimate entourage effect between soil, fungal networks, bacteria, nature, animals, and humans.

In our community - that’s the difference between an all-white city council and one that reflects the diversity of voices among the population. Pop quiz: Do you know who serves on your city council?

I encourage you to reflect on the diversity in your life and where it’s lacking. And how you feel about your everyday and overall life experience.

When I do this exercise periodically, I draw the same conclusion. The more diversity in my life, the happier and healthier I am physically, mentally, and socially.

And when it comes to flower, I love keeping a diverse stash on hand to suit any possible mood or occasion. And, thanks to OCB, I also maintain a diverse line up of rolling papers to pair with the experience.

From Flax, Wood, Organic Hemp, to Bamboo, OCB goes all in on the paper-making process to deliver sustainable textile papers. No matter which OCB paper suits your rolling experience, you can be assured OCB only uses natural acacia gum for an “always sticks” experience. And all OCB rolling papers are vegan, GMO free, chlorine-free, and dye-free.Of course, you must be 21 and older to buy OCB rolling papers and to follow the natural wonders of OCB on social @ocb_usa.

For you grown-up joint-rolling novices, I invite you to learn the craft alongside me. Catch the Roll With Me video series live streaming on the Casually Baked YouTube channel and the “Highly Responsible Canna Consumers” FB group with replays on the Weed Tube and IGTV.

Get your Roll With Me starter kit at ocbusa.com/BAKED - you’ll get 4 booklets of OCB and a rolling tray for only $4.99! This bundle is worth 20 bucks - and around for ??? - but the rolling skills and street cred we’ll earn together, my friend, makes this offer priceless.

And because variety is the spice of life, I encourage you to sample the entire line of OCB products and let me know your favorite. Ask for OCB wherever you buy your papers. You’ll find links to the OCB special offer and Roll With Me in the Potcast show notes at casually baked dot com.

A MODERN BEVERAGE, INSPIRED BY TRADITION: Unlike traditional aperitifs, Artet is non-alcoholic and cannabis infused. Each batch is a blend of cannabis and eight botanicals that work in harmony to make Artet delicious on the rocks, intriguing when mixed, and always enjoyed in good company. I’m new to Artet’s canned twists on classic cocktails (pictured above L to R: Rosemary Jane, Tet & Tonic). And I can’t wait to check out the limited-edition batch of Artet’s flagship aperitif, made with the live resin of sun-grown cannabis from Aster Farms. Sweet, piney, potent, and perfect for plant lovers I’m told. :)
